The Assam Rifles Sentinels Cup 2024 began with a grand opening ceremony on 01 July, 2024, at ARTC & S, Dimapur. The event, which aims to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie among the armed forces and the local community, was marked by vibrant cultural performances, inspiring speeches, and an enthusiastic turnout.

The ceremony began with the marching in of teams, each representing different states of the Northeast. This was followed by the oath ceremony, a military band display, and traditional dances by local artists, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Northeast India. The chief guest for the opening ceremony was Major General Manish Kumar, SM*, IGAR(N), who then formally inaugurated the event, officially kicking off the Assam Rifles Sentinels Cup 2024.

In his address, the chief guest emphasized the role of sports in fostering unity and discipline among both civilians and troops. He expressed hope that the Sentinels Cup would serve as a platform for showcasing sports talent and strengthening the bonds between the Assam Rifles and the civilian population.

The highlight of the ceremony was a spectacular band display by Assam Rifles personnel, which drew loud cheers from the audience, and traditional dance performance by local artists. The Assam Rifles Sentinels Cup 2024 will feature football teams competing over the course of a week, with the finals to be held in Shillong. The tournament promises to be a thrilling display of skill, determination, and teamwork, embodying the spirit of the Assam Rifles and the resilience of the people of the Northeast.
